Top 4 Movies that Feature an RV

It’s hard to miss when an RV is featured in a movie, and over the years it has been used for several purposes. As our list shows, not all RV movies have to be about the quirky family that doesn't know how to operate the RV, leading to hilarious circumstances. In Hollywood RVs can fly, provide comedic relief or symbolize certain things in life that we wouldn't have thought about before. Whether for family trips, a place to find yourself or up in space, these movies stood out to us when making our list of top movies that featured RVs.

    1. About Schmidt

Jack Nicholson stars in this adventure comedy about a man (Warren Schmidt) who retires from his position at an insurance company and sets out on a cross country journey in a Winnebago to attend his only daughter's wedding. After his wife dies, Schmidt is overcome with loneliness. He stops showering, sleeps on the couch and only goes to the store to load up on frozen foods. In a nutshell, he becomes a gross, lazy old man who doesn't want to accept anything life has thrown at him. In an effort to make his life worth something, he decides to take a trip by himself in his new Winnebago to convince his daughter not to marry her fiancée  Randall. Schmidt makes several stops, including his hometown and college campus, and also makes friends along the way at campgrounds he stays at. The film  has a happy ending, but we won’t spoil it for you, you will have to find out yourself!

    2. Meet the Fockers

In this sequel to the hit movie “Meet the Parents,”  "Greg" Focker (Ben Stiller) and his fiancée Pam Byrnes (Polo) decide that it is time for their parents to meet each other. If you saw the first movie “Meet the Parents,” you already know that Greg had a hard time when he met Pam’s father, Jack Byrnes, who is an ex CIA operative. The plan is for the Byrnes family to fly with Greg to go and meet his parents, but rather than fly, Jack decides to drive everyone to Miami to meet the Fockers in his new, fancy RV. Hilarity ensues as the Byrnes family collides with the quirky and off-beat Focker family, making for another great comedy that happens to feature an RV.

    3. Space Balls

In this classic comedy, the plot and characters parody the original Star Wars trilogy, as well as other sci-fi classics including Star Trek, Alien, and the Planet of the Apes. The movie is about Planet Spaceball, which led by the incompetent President Skroob (Mel Brooks), has wasted all of its air. The plan is to steal air from the rival planet of Druidia by kidnapping their Princess Vespa on her wedding day. In the movie their ship, the “Eagle V”, is actually a modified Winnebago RV, which is a spoof of the Star Wars ship the Millenium Falcon. If you love sci-fi movies, you will be sure to love this parody!

    4. RV

It’s hard to not put a movie on this list that has the title RV. This family comedy features family man Bob (Robin Williams) as a beverage company executive who struggles with his dysfunctional family. His wife is needy and materialistic, his daughter is spoiled and thinks she owns the world, and his son is a weightlifting obsessed teenager who listens to his music way too loud. Looking forward to his family vacation in Hawaii, Bob gets punished by his boss and is forced to present a merger proposal in Boulder, Colorado. Instead of telling his family what they are doing, Bob rents an RV from a sketchy RV dealer and tells his family they are traveling to the Rockies. Naturally everything goes wrong on the trip as Bob really has no idea how to operate the RV, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t provide many laughs! If you are a family who loves traveling in RVs, you will love the misfortune Bob and his family have to endure. But at the end, just like all family vacations, they end up coming closer together and learning things about each other.
